Our standard rock is ¾” minus. We also ofer ⅜” pea gravel.

How long does it take for concrete to set up?

It depends on several different factors but normally you can walk on carefully (no twisting) in 12 hours. In 48 hours you can remove forms. In 7 days you can park a car on, you will have 70% of strength. In 28 days concrete reaches its full strength.

How thick does it need to be?

We recommend a minimum 4 inches on driveways, patios, sidewalks, and most slabs.

Do we need to use rebar or fiber mesh?

It depends on the use. It is usually recommended for driveways or other heavy-use areas to reduce cracking.

Do we need to have a gravel base? If so, how deep should it be?

We do recommend it. A compacted gravel base of equal depth to your slab is best.

What tools do I need? And where can I get them?

You should have a screed board, bull float, edger, and hand trowel. You can buy these tools at any of the building supply stores or you may rent them at most rental stores.

Do we finish concrete?

We are a licensed/insured general contractor and can make arrangements for a complete turnkey project.

What does air entrainment do?

Air entrainment is the induction of very small air bubbles in fresh concrete. As the concrete cures, the air bubbles for small voids, these voids give concrete additional durability in freezing/thawing conditions.

How much air is in concrete?

It varies by mix design, but is generally 4%-8%

How many bags of QuickCrete does it take to make 1 yard?

40-45, 90lb bags

If it’s likely to freeze should I do anything to protect it?

Absolutely! Concrete that freezes during the curing process will eventually fail. Use of concrete blankets, tarps and hay are optional.

How much does 1 cubic yard weigh?

One yard weighs about 3,800 lbs

Will you drive on our property/driveway?

We will only move beyond the curbline per your direction and following signature of our terms and conditions which indemnifies us from any damage caused.

Where do you wash out?

The contractor/owner is required to provide us with a SWPP compliant washout area. Oftentimes a wheelbarrow is sufficient. We can also provide a disposable washout tub for containment.
